AI for optimal decision making

AI is being reduced to chatbots lately. This is a shame, as there is more to the broader field of AI than chatbots. Constraint Programming is a method for optimal decision making, it works by developing a declarative model of a problem that is then solved by a black-box solver.

We have been running a Vertically Integrated Project on developing the next generation tools for high-level constraint modelling and solving. This project supervised by academics, students work in groups, employ modern software development practices to produce well-tested, well-documented code. In addition to skills related to constraint programming, students develop key transferable skills that will be applicable in other challenging computer science jobs throughout their careers.

In this exhibit we will demonstrate a few of the fruits of our project and visitors to engage with our students and staff.
